Launching on Sunday 6th Sept with the Shorelines Art Exhibition, guests will be treated to work from both local and invited artists. Exhibitions are free to visit at the Gallery at the Irish Workhouse Centre and at the Portumna Castle Café Gallery and run until September 20th.

Musical highlights include singer, radio presenter and musician, Muireann Nic

Amhlaoibh in concert with her talented musicians, Dónal O’Connor & Gerry O’Beirne. In the intimate setting of Portumna’s Christ Church, this is a gem. As too is  Love Letter in Song with singer, Camille O’Sullivan and pianist, Feargal Murray.

In the same venue, the local traditional compositions of the late Fr. Kelly is celebrated at a lunchtime concert: From Galway to Fiji - with Máirín Fahy, Yvonne Fahy Patsy Broderick. And local baritone, Pascal Kennedy brings The Art of Song  in a classical concert with pianist, Sophie Ward. For more song, Roscommon Men’s Choir perform a wide range of popular hits and are joined by local choir, Omna Singers, directed by Carmel Dooley. With a session of folk music with local duo Nach Tú, you will be highly entertained from September 10th-13th. 

Distillation, a multi-sensory performance at Portumna Courthouse, created by Luke Casserly transports audiences to the Irish bog landscape. You are invited to take time out and enjoy an audio show of Shorelines Stories at Curley’s Bar. 

Gather in too for a journey through the arts of the past with actors Val O’Donnell and Tim Casey in Drawing the Crowd. Join in conversation with local historian, Dympna Byrne, as she shares the story behind her fascinating RTÉ Radio Doc on One, Jamaica Daly

Enjoy reflections on writing and live readings in Pen Power with poetry from Moyra Donaldson, short stories from Claire Hennessey, memoir from David McLoghlin and prose from Neil Tully who are in conversation with local writer, Noelle Lynskey. Based on her book Light Up  a wellbeing talk is presented by Miriam Hussey in Portumna Town Hall where, closing the festival, musician and researcher, Paddy Cullivan presents his audio-visual historical stage show The Murder of Michael Collins.

Immerse yourself in the Shorelines Film Shorts curated for the festival. Screening at the Boathouse Bar, this year’s gripping featured documentary, You Will Die in Prison chronicles the harrowing ordeal and resilience of hostage, Bernard Phelan.

Free street and family entertainment is on offer too as well as many school events, and of course, the annual Lines Learned by Heart Recitation competition!
